2024 Football: St. Philip, Climax-Scotts Among Teams to Watch in 8-Player Division
St. Philip Takes the Lead
With a strong group of returning players, St. Philip looks to make a deep run into the playoffs in 2024. The Tigers return eight all-conference players including quarterback Drew Nichols, the reigning Division 8 Player of the Year. St. Philip has won three consecutive district championships and advanced to the state semifinals in 2022.
Climax-Scotts Aims to Return to Title Game
Climax-Scotts comes into the season with a chip on their shoulder after a disappointing end to their 2023 season. The Panthers lost to eventual state champion Colon in the district championship game. Climax-Scotts brings back eight starters on offense and defense and should compete for the state title in 2024.
Other Teams to Watch
- Colon: The defending state champions return several key players from last year's team.
- Wyoming Tri-Unity: The Defenders have won two straight district championships and reached the state semifinals in 2022.
- Fennville: The Blackhawks have a large group of returning players and are looking to make a run at the state title.
The 8-player division is always competitive, and 2024 should be no different. St. Philip and Climax-Scotts are the early favorites, but there are a number of teams that could make a run at the state title.
